The Gardeners House as its name implies was once the former home of the official gardener of the Achilleion Palace. Having only three owners since its construction in 1891 the present owners who are British have transformed what was once a rather dilapidated shell into a stunning home. The house which once appeared on 'A Place in the Sun' TV program in its previous state is now worthy of front cover status in any glossy home magazine.
The house is beautifully furnished and clearly represents the era of the property. The attention to detail is apparent, from the artwork adorning the walls to the traditional bedroom furniture with the old iron beds, yet not forgetting the 21st century, two modern shower rooms and a fully fitted kitchen provide all the mod cons today's clientele expect.
The ground floor comprises of a central hallway leading out to rear cottage garden, to the left is a good size sitting room with comfortable sofas and flat screen TV with British Channels & Sky. To the right is an open plan kitchen & dining area, the kitchen with it's cottage window overlooks the garden and pool area.
One double bedroom with a king size bed and an en-suite shower room and across the hall a twin room can be found on the first floor, along with the family bathroom with a second shower. From the landing area there are French doors leading onto the decked area which is a perfect place to relax, it's a real suntrap.
The gardens are beautifully kept and a tropical paradise where you will find a delightful sunken dining area with a hanging table. There is a brick built BBQ with preparation area, a swimming pool and sun-loungers with parasols.
Perfectly situated up a quiet, peaceful lane just off the high street of Gastouri, there are three tavernas all less than a five minute stroll. Gastouri is a picture postcard village, with it's maze of narrow streets it still maintains the traditional Greek way of life. Famous not only for the Achilleion Palace, but also for it's village bread which has been baked at Hectorus Bakery in the centre of the village for more than a century. For a more cosmopolitan evening, Benitses with it's yachting marina is only a 5 minute drive down the road where you will find a great choice of traditional & International restaurants and cafe bars.

Fabulous villa in Gastouri, but very narrow access. Very clean and comfortable, lovely garden with barbecue and sun loungers. Not many facilities in the village but we were off season. Convenient for Corfu Town and the airport but car essential

The Gardeners House is set in the middle of the village of Gastouri with easy access to the airport. Obviously we travelled at a time when things are difficult but were a little disappointed to find that we were unable to eat in the village in the evening or have a local shop in the village, we were under the impression that the village had both. The house is lovely. The garden is small but beautiful and intriguing. The en-suite bathroom in the main bedroom is small and would benefit from a little updating, the water pressure in the basin and shower was exceptionally low at times just a trickle. Prestige Villas were exceptionally helpful throughout and would definitely book again with them.

Hi Emma, many thanks for your review & sorry to hear about your dissapointment with the village amenities. In the summer Gastouri is a lovely village with 3 tavernas and a mini market as well as a couple of hand made olive wood and ceramic shops. Due to the situation this year with the uncertanty of tourism many businesses decided not to open... We were unaware the tavernas hadn't opened this year in the village and hope it didn't spoil your holiday too much... Thank you for your positive words and hope we can accommodate you soon under better circumstances.
